This morning in Emmett’s crib, bed head and all, I snapped a few photos of Ella jumping around while her little brother giggled from the after bounce. Sadly, the action shots of their candid smiles turned out too blurry because of how dark and gloomy this morning was, but the memories of their elated faces and sounds of laughter will forever be stored in my mind.
It makes my heart so happy to watch how well they play together. I love to watch their sibling relationship grow and blossom. They have such a sweet love for each other that I didn’t even think was possible at their little ages.
Ella never ceases to amaze me with how good she is to her brother. This past week, as I was nursing Emmett before his nap, she came into the room with one of his blankets and covered her sleepy brother up to his chin. She then caressed his head and whispered “shhh” and quietly walked for the door. Before gently closing it behind her, those big brown eyes peeked in to whisper “shhh” one last time before her little smiling face disappeared.
I just melt and think to myself, “how precious!” How grateful am I to be the mother to this dear little girl with a heart so thoughtful and caring. I pray she will always have a heart like that.
I pray that I will have a heart more like that. A heart more thoughtful and caring. A heart more like Jesus.
Ultimately my children will learn most with where they spend most of their time, at home with mommy (and daddy when he’s not at work.) May caring and thoughtfulness always be practiced in our everyday lives.
“ Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” -Colossians 3:12
