This past week my mama flew in from our hometown up north to come visit us in the warm south for a few days. Thankfully it was a sunny week while she was here, because it decided to snow up there for the rest of the fam. I know, gross! That spring snowfall is one thing I do not miss. So obviously we had to spend our days visiting the beach and lounging at the pool. :)
I’m really loving the pool area we have in our apartment community. It has this cool little kids area that only gets up to about a foot deep in the middle and has water shooting up throughout different parts. It’s like one giant bathtub and the kids have so much fun playing in it.
So like usual my mom spoils us when we she comes and visits and offered to watch the kids while we went on a day date to Pensacola, Florida. As soon as Drew was released Friday afternoon we stopped at our place so he could see the kids before we left. We then picked up some Chick-fil-A and hit the road. I hate long car rides… Okay, I don’t know if you could call a 2 hour trip a long car ride, but it is always such a good time road-tripping with my hubby. I just love jamming out with him and being silly and laughing (sometimes until I almost piddle my pants) to things that would probably sound ridiculous and just one of those “you had to be there” things if I tried to explain so I’ll skip that ;)
Like a second before I shot this we realized we had just crossed the Florida border!( I know we’re such tourists :)) But seriously I was so excited as this was our first time visiting here, ever. And man was it beautiful; such a perfect day to go. We ended up setting an anniversary photo session up with Taylor J Photographery before we left for our 3rd year married this June :) It was such a fun and romantic shoot and Taylor and her friend Makaela (Makaela Johnson Photography) who was also shooting us were the sweetest girls ever and made our time there such a joy. My husband and I couldn’t help but tear up a few times just looking into each others eyes thinking back on our wedding day and how much our love has grown while they were capturing it all. I got to see some of the shots on Taylor’s camera and I cannot wait to share these photos with you guys when she finishes them :)
Here’s a little sneek peek I took from her Facebook page!
Oh and this sunset that went down at the end of the shoot was gorgeooouuuss.
That evening we went and dined on the beach at a restaurant called “Crabs.” The seafood was so delicious and the honey buns they served before the meal were… sweet, deep fried, carbloaded and full of goodness. So so good. Drew ordered these gigantic crab legs and I got some coconut shrimp. It was a lovely night sitting out on the beach. There was live music playing and crab races for the kids that were there. (Sadly, all of my pictures turned out blurry so I won’t post any.) It was a wonderful day date, and one I will always remember, as we don’t get those opportunities too often right now being away from family and friends. Thankful for my mama who comes and visits so we are able to do that every once in a while, but I hope and pray once we get to our first base we will make some good friends and do trade offs watching each other’s kids for date nights! Cross your fingers for us please :)
